Sharing the baby monitor with a partner or grandparents
Updated
With Awake, up to three people can watch the same baby monitor at once, each on their own phone. Everyone pairs with the camera phone the same way, by scanning its QR code or typing its room code, and the camera phone shows who’s connected.
Who can watch
On the plan for up to three parents, three phones can watch the camera at the same time. For example:
- you and your partner, each on your own phone;
- a grandparent or babysitter, for the evening.
On the one-parent plan, one phone watches at a time.
How to add someone
- On the camera phone, start the camera with Be the camera.
- On their phone, they install Awake and choose Watch & listen.
- They scan the QR code on the camera phone, or type the room code.
They see the live view straight away. The camera phone lists everyone connected.

Removing someone
The camera phone shows each connected parent with a Remove button. Tap it to disconnect that phone. For example, when the babysitter goes home.
What happens when the room is full
If someone tries to join when every place is taken, they can’t connect, and the camera keeps streaming to everyone already watching. On the one-parent plan, you can upgrade to three parents from Settings → Plan.
Privacy when sharing
With Awake, video goes straight from the camera phone to each watching phone. It isn’t uploaded or stored, and nobody needs an account. Only phones that have the code can connect, so share it only with people you trust. Read more in is a phone baby monitor private?
Tips
- Each person should allow notifications on their phone, so the alerts reach them too.
- Tap Reset room code on the camera phone if you want to stop someone reconnecting with an old code.
Awake is not a medical device and does not replace adult supervision.
